In September 2018, 500+ store managers, and regional and state team leaders from around Australia and New Zealand attended the 2018 EB Games and ZING! Pop Culture Conference, injecting nearly $1M into Townsville’s Economy. It was an opportunity for development, networking and for attendees to hear firsthand from gaming industry publishers on the upcoming game releases such as the highly anticipated worldwide launch of Red Dead Redemption 2.

The Southern Hemisphere’s largest ecotourism conference was held in November 2018, focused on the Great Barrier Reef. The conference was first in Townsville in 2006, and its return in 2018 was a great outcome for the tourism industry. Having the premier event in Townsville allowed Townsville to showcase its outstanding environmental tourism experiences and facilities to the best ecotourism operators and tourism professionals in the world.
