The World Theatre
For larger events, The World Theatre in the heart of Charters Towers’ business district provides a unique venue with the latest in production capabilities. The grand entrance introduces you to the elegance that lies within and the theatre foyer area which plays host to a gallery display that presents pieces from the coveted collection of historically significant pieces to valuable contemporary works.
The main Mt Leyshon Auditorium has 650 raked fixed seats facing a large proscenium stage with all a professional production or conference would need, plus two separate cinemas seating 120 & 150 respectively. Beverages & snacks are on offer at Dungavell’s Bar and Candy Bar. The Gallery features local and touring art exhibitions, and connects to the Heritage Bank Foyer to offer wonderful spaces to hold different events: small seated dinner for around 20, cocktail style functions and parties for up to 120, as well as foyer recitals and piano nights hosting between 40-80 people. Upstairs is a further small function room with its own small bar & kitchenette which can seat 10-20 people and features amazing views from the huge grand verandah.
Arthur Titley Centre
Directly opposite The World Theatre, is the Arthur Titley Centre. This venue offers an insight into the style and class of events gone by. Commercial catering facilities and a separate bar area serve the two separate function rooms with a stage equipped with disabled access.
The Excelsior Library
Charters Towers Excelsior Library is the local library and can be hired for small intimate settings for up to 30 people.
