Experience Townsville North Queensland’s vibrant city and enjoy lunch at City Lane before walking to Townsville Brewery for their renowned beer tour. Next, take a short 20 minute ferry charter to Magnetic Island to be greeted by your Tropical Topless car. End your first day with a picturesque private beachfront dinner catered by Roux Blond.
Never in our lives had we begun our day snorkelling with a hammerhead shark. Today was one in a million, beginning at Reef HQ , tasting craft beers at Townsville Brewery, and ending with Roux Blond’s unique demonstration of dinner on the beach at Horseshoe Bay at its finest. Craig and Fred guided us like pros, educating us about all aspects of the Great Barrier Reef in our own, personalised closed-water snorkelling experience in the World's Largest Living Coral Reef Aquarium. Wow! After we’d worked up an appetite, we enjoyed a delicious Paleo Café lunch in City Lane. After a spot of shopping, Scott the Brewer from Townsville Brewery took us through the inner workings of Townsville’s craft brewery operation. His passion was evident and the product was even tastier. Our dedicated driver Lillian of Acacia Limousines went the extra mile to make our first day in Townsville North Queensland a seamless and spectacular one. After catching the smooth Sealink Queensland ferry across to Magnetic Island and collecting our dinky convertible from Tropical Topless cars, we arrived at Maggie’s Beachfront Apartments, we were wowed! Our 3-bedroom apartment, 2-bathroom luxury apartment overlooking Horseshoe Bay provided us with the perfect view for our evening surprise. Darren and Anne Marie from Roux Blond blew us away with their amazing setting for our candlelight dinner on the beach; outstanding wine-matched 3-course meal, and their unsurpassed personal attention. What a fantastic way to top off a great day in Townsville North Queensland.
Day 3: Wake at Maggies Beachfront at Horseshoe Bay and enjoy breakfast at one of the many cafes that look over the water. Explore the natural beauty and serenity of untouched paradise of Magnetic Island in style in your topless convertible, cruise through your way around the 23 beaches and bays and walk some of the 25km of walking tracks. Finish your car rally with cocktails at Peppers Blue on Blue, looking over the marina before enjoying dinner at the award winning restaurant.
A long walk along Horseshoe Bay followed by a tasty brunch at Nourish Café set us up for a fantastic day on Magnetic Island. Barbie, our topless pink convertible from Topical Topless Car Rentals, has proven to be our trusty companion in our self-driving escapades around the Island, which included a spot of shopping. In the afternoon we caught the local Sunbus down to Peppers Blue on Blue at Nelly Bay to meet Norman from Sealink Queensland for dinner and drinks. The meal was incredible, featuring amazing pork belly and desserts to die for. The background music by Jason Fichera entertained us all to round off another spectacular evening in Townsville North Queensland.
Day 4: Today is race day, teamwork is important as you will compete under the guidance of experienced crew for the ultimate thrill. Once the race is complete, relax and unwind with other competitors at the Yachties Hour and Race Day Presentation and enjoy the evening’s entertainment.
Norman from Sealink Queensland coordinated with Wally to arrange our unique opportunity to join a crew in the Round the Island yacht race as part of SeaLink Magnetic Island Race Week. It was an awesome experience and we felt privileged to be invited on board to see first-hand how much is involved in such a technical sport in a race setting. We learned some of the lingo, managed to avoid falling in the drink and it was a fantastic way to see all around the island. We rounded off the day with a few celebratory drinks at the 106.3FM Shipwrecked Street Party at Gilligan’s, meeting up with a few of the Crew. Janine’s yacht Bundaberg came 1st in its class, just pipping Nicola’s crew aboard Silver Minx. What a day!
Day 5: Enjoy a chef cooked bush tucker breakfast as well as be greeted by native Australian animals including koalas, crocodiles and snakes. Transfer back to Townsville for a limousine transfer to Jupiters Townsville Hotel and Casino for a divine meal at their re-invented steakhouse restaurant and reflect on the adventure that has been Time Out in Townsville.
Another day of firsts began at Bungalow Bay Koala Village, starting with a champagne breakfast with the koalas and a few of his mates. A great feed of bush tucker at its best with a few tasty extra was complemented by Tony the ranger’s passion for wildlife. We had lizards join us for breakfast; a python relax around our necks; a kiss from a cockatoo, and a cuddle with Pebbles the koala. Tony introduced us to so many unique interactions with the wildlife, accompanied by his great humour. Thereafter, some time out at Horseshoe Bay to enjoy watersports followed by a gorgeous lunch of seafood. We then dropped our Topless back to Nelly Bay and toasted a final drink at Peppers before boarding our quick Sealink Queensland ferry back to Townsville, where we enjoyed a walk up the Strand and a coffee overlooking the beach. Greeted by an Acacia Limousine’s stretch limo, we headed off in our finest to a decadent dinner at Kobe Restaurant at Jupiters Townsville Hotel and Casino. What a great way to round off an amazing trip to Townsville North Queensland. Thanks for a fantastic time!
